Mildra Cynthia Kelly was born August 11, 1955, to the late Primus Kelly and Annie Mae Kelly. Mildra was born in Camilla, Georgia, and later migrated to Daytona Beach, Florida.
There she attended Bonner Elementary School and Holly Hill High School. After relocating to Cleveland, Ohio in 1971, she attended East Tech High School.
Mildra continued her education receiving her GED and her LPN license from Jefferson School of Business located in Cleveland, Ohio. Her body of work included private duty nursing, home healthcare, culinary assistant as well as a security officer for Cleveland Clinic. While residing in CMHA Housing, she received several awards of excellence for promoting a positive image of public housing in the community. For the gracious service rendered by Mildra to visitors of CMHA, she received the Goodwill Ambassador Award. She also was a notable advocate of grandparent rights.
Mildra enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite places to visit was Clarksville, TN where her sister Sandra and brother-in-law (Avery) established their home after 20 years of active military service.
Ms. Millie loved being the “Belle of the Ball”. Fashion was her passion. You’d never catch her slipping because she was always dressed to impress.
As a young woman, she was raised in Mount Calvary SDA Church in Daytona Beach, FL. After her migration to Cleveland, she worshipped at Bethel SDA Church. She later joined Blessed Hope Baptist Church. She was instrumental in assisting her two older brothers, Pastor Charles F. Kelly and Bishop Johnny L. Kelly with advancing their church ministries.
Mildra rededicated her heart to Jesus Christ during her illness. Nearing the end of her days, she continued to be very comical and kept everyone laughing. Even in her pain, family and friends often found Ms. Millie still giving God the glory, the honor, and the praise she believed was due to Him. Ms. Millie never met a stranger and was a friend to many and cared for those in need.
She loved her family.
Called to rest in peace, Mildra Cynthia Kelly is survived by Brian Salome, her three children, Michael Kelly, Tabei Price, Tamika Byrd, her grandson Brian Kelly (whom she raised), six additional grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Mildra leaves behind her mother, Annie M. Kelly Johnson, siblings Primus( Catherine) James (Rose), Charles (Patricia), Johnny (Tawonna), Ray, Gloria, Sandra Orange (Avery), Andrew, Alisa Hood (Stan), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
