Thomas Allen Franklin, aka Tommy and Redd, was born June 17 1951 to Velma Edwards and William Thompson, and was the second child born to Velma. He was a student of Cleveland Public School and completed secondary education in Los Angles, CA, and received a certification for Intricate Systems Technologies from Tri-C. Tommy worked for various companies which included, but not limited to, Cleveland Industrial, Beff Construction, and J&L Construction. Affectionately known to most as “Redd”, he sang in band called The Connoisseurs. He was very out going and adventurous, and traveled all over the country. He loved his family and friends and was very active in the various communities in which he lived. He was always there for his family and catered to people in need. But his greatest loves were his children and grandchildren for which he made sure were united and apart of each other’s lives.
Thomas departed this life December 9, 2018. He is survived by his beloved sons and daughters Eleazar Lumbus, Echele Fletcher, Michael Johnson, Lionel Stewart, Ruby Garner, Yasmeen Carver, Nicie Prince, John Franklin, Jameel Prince, Devona Chapman, and DeMarco Franklin.
Siblings include Sharon Valerie and Michael Sherri (deceased), Paternal siblings include Mitchell Last Name, Edgar Last name (Brenda) , Carletta , Connie, Carolynn, Felicia, William Rucker(deceased) ,and a host of grandchildren and great great children ,nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to his aunts and uncles Stanley Fair ,Marvin Fair ,Mary ,Ann, and Marilyn, who were diligent in caring and provided guidance in his life.
